I so enjoy meet-and-greet events. How delightful to chat with new friends. No surprise, the way that cute, furry gray-and-white being rubbed noses with me at BayCon over the Memorial Day weekend. At science fiction/fantasy conventions, outgoing folks wander the hallways, conference rooms and party suites. But I never anticipated the unusual new friends David and I would meet at the San Mateo County Fair on June 11. One gentleman was tall, thin and muscular. From Burma, I believe. Another guy was really into forest preservation. A space alien even showed up to serve as a model during my “create your own space alien” arts-and-crafts workshop for kids. Interesting to talk with, those chaps. Too bad David and I can’t recall their names.
I still have more San Mateo County Fair events on Saturday, June 16, in Expo Hall at the Literary Arts Stage. At 1-2 pm I’ll host readings of science fiction, fantasy, horror and thrillers. I’ll participate in a book-signing from 2-4 pm, then serve on a podcasting and book trailer panel from 4-5 pm. I hope to see some of you there, even if you’re from planet earth.
