Look for MOON-FLAME WOMAN by Laurel Anne Hill

Steampunk–Wuxia
anthology…

From ancient China to a future Mars, from the British Empire to the Old West, 19 authors show you worlds with alcohol-fueled dragons, philosophical automatons, and Qi-powered machines both wondrous and strange in tales of vengeance, paper lantern revolutions and flying monks.

Shanghai Steam is a unique mashup of steampunk and the Chinese literary genre known as Wuxia (loosely translated as martial hero).

Holy Snakes! Laurel Anne Hill Meets New Friends at BayCon 2012 and the San Mateo County Fair

Laurel and David meet a new friend from Burma at the San Mateo County Fair

I so enjoy meet-and-greet events.  How delightful to chat with new friends.  No surprise, the way that cute, furry gray-and-white being rubbed noses with me at BayCon over the Memorial Day weekend.  At science fiction/fantasy conventions, outgoing folks wander the hallways, conference rooms and party suites.  But I never anticipated the unusual new friends David and I would meet at the San Mateo County Fair on June 11.  One gentleman was tall, thin and muscular.  From Burma, I believe.  Another guy was really into forest preservation.  A space alien even showed up to serve as a model during my “create your own space alien” arts-and-crafts workshop for kids.  Interesting to talk with, those chaps.  Too bad David and I can’t recall their names.

I still have more San Mateo County Fair events on Saturday, June 16, in Expo Hall at the Literary Arts Stage.  At 1-2 pm I’ll host readings of science fiction, fantasy, horror and thrillers.  I’ll participate in a book-signing from 2-4 pm, then serve on a podcasting and book trailer panel from 4-5 pm.  I hope to see some of you there, even if you’re from planet earth.
